About Charlottesville Tomorrow

Charlottesville Tomorrow was launched in September 2005 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

MISSION STATEMENT

To inform and engage the public by providing clear, non-partisan information and research on land use, transportation, and community design issues with the confidence an informed public will make decisions that will protect and build upon the distinctive character of the Charlottesville-Albemarle area.

VALUES

Charlottesville Tomorrow's work is guided by the following core values:

  1. Our information and approach is non-partisan and objective
  2. We respect the unique character of the Charlottesville-Albemarle community and recognize that it shapes our quality of life today and tomorrow
  3. We trust an engaged citizenry to make informed decisions that will benefit the community as a whole
  4. We believe the democratic process works best in an atmosphere of open government and transparency
  5. We value and work to foster cooperation and mutual understanding between Charlottesville, Albemarle, and the University of Virginia

ACTIVITIES

Charlottesville Tomorrow is the trusted source of in-depth information on growth and development issues before local government in the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle.  Charlottesville Tomorrow's information is widely distributed to the public through our website, in e-mail alerts, in printed local election voter guides, and on weekly radio programs.

Activities include:

  • information sharing to build community knowledge
  • research on quality of life issues
  • community engagement—ensuring the public knows when and how to get involved in community decisions
  • non-partisan local election coverage

This statement of MISSION, VALUES & ACTIVITIES was adopted by Charlottesville Tomorrow's Board of Directors on September 25, 2008.
