Privacy Policy

Revised as of July 3, 2007

Charlottesville Tomorrow is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members and visitors to our website. We maintain the privacy of your information using security technologies and adhere to policies that prevent unauthorized use of your personal information. Outlined below is our privacy policy for personal information collected through this website.

Personally Identifiable Information

We will not collect any personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, email address, credit card or other information, unless we explicitly request the information and you choose to provide it.  We use your personal information to send you email alerts, respond to questions or requests and process online donations. If such information is collected, it may be shared with other closely aligned groups for the purposes of responding to any comments or questions you submit and to provide any follow-up information about our organizations and our issues. It also may be shared with an outside company to fulfill any request you have made to us, such as charging a donation to your credit card. We will not sell, rent, provide or disclose personally identifiable information to any commercial users or marketing firms.

We treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information. We may, for example, provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the Board of Supervisors, City Council, and other local decision-makers, without disclosing email addresses. We may also make your comments along with your city, and locality (City of Charlottesville or Albemarle) available to the press and public online. With your authorization, we will send individual e-mails in your name, and with your e-mail address as the return address, to the Board of Supervisors, City Council, and other local decision-makers.

Charlottesville Tomorrow also complies with the email policies required by our website hosting provider, Convio (formerly GetActive), as documented in the following policy: http://www.getactive.com/agreement/terms_email_april05.pdf

Subscribers who support the organization through online credit card donations will have their credit card numbers stored in an encrypted form in our web site provider's (
Convio) database only as required to fulfill financial transactions and will only display the last four digits of credit card numbers on member web pages or confirmation emails. Convio represents that it complies with applicable payment card industry data security standards.
